Its been a prosperous five years for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 to say the least. Save a few hack works such as Bomberman: Act Zero, 360 games have been all about innovation and pushing the boundaries of gaming, especially as of late. For those who are new to Xbox 360 here in 2010, it might seem a little confusing as to what games are really worth spending the money on without reverting back to washed up classics like Halo 3. I am here to recommend you the titles that will keep you gaming with a peak interest and desire to play forever… well at least until their respectful sequels are released. These are the best games for Xbox 360.

With the highest average reviews anywhere, the first must-have game of this decade is Mass Effect 2. Bioware truly made something groundbreaking when they mixed a slew of gaming traits to form the most epic action role-playing adventure to date. Every aspect of the game has been polished and improved upon from the former Mass Effect, and those who missed the first installment need not worry, as this sequel is very newcomer friendly. The engaging story and personalized dialogue keeps the gamer entwined with the enormous universe Bioware has created. The vast array of skills and weapons at your disposal never leaves the combat stale, and unlike other action RPGs of its kind, e.g. Fallout 3, the game play is amazingly smooth, responsive, and lag-free. The overall design of Mass Effect 2 is simply outstanding, making this title one of a kind and  an essential buy for any 360 owner looking to immerse themselves in a different world.

Not everyone is into RPG space operas, and that is where Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 comes in. Unless you are Randy “The Ram” (The Wrestler) I am sure you have heard the hype by now. For first person shooter fans, this really is the must have game. Fantastic graphics and presentation are just scratching the surface of this Infinity Ward masterpiece. This sequel perfected nearly every aspect of its former counterpart, except debatably the single-player campaign, but we all know the multiplayer is where it’s at. More weapons and perks, customizable kill-streak options, and additional match styles including a third-person mode really set this game apart from any FPS in existence. Probably one of the most impressive features that multiplayer boasts is its no nonsense matchmaking system that will take literally seconds to get you and your friends into a game wreaking havoc together with no difficulties.

The aforementioned games are the latest and greatest games Xbox has to offer, but there are a few more worth mentioning that, although slightly flawed, can still provide you with endless entertainment. Bayonetta is a stylish action game much like Ninja Gaiden but with an arguably superior combat system and a unique artsy presentation unlike any title of the genre. The real fun comes after you beat it the first time as this game has plenty to unlock and purchase on the next play through. Assassins Creed 2 starts right where the first left off and provides an incredibly detailed and gorgeous portrayal of Renaissance Italy that is yours to fully explore. The free-running and combat scenarios are deep and enjoyable and the game mechanics as a whole have been refined. BioShock 2, although made by a different company, offers a similar experience as its prequel. This time you will find yourself exploring Rapture as a Big Daddy and a multiplayer mode has also been added. For all the greatest games and full reviews, check out The Best xbox games.
